Understanding your dog

Orthopaedic conditions

Bringing veterinary findings and the realities of daily movement into one rehabilitation conversation.

Start with the individual.

Orthopaedic is a broad description, so the details of the individual diagnosis and treatment matter. Assessment looks at the dog in front of us, including their movement, stance, comfort, confidence and the activities their household wants to discuss.

A coordinated plan may draw on different assessment methods, environments and therapies. The aim of the discussion is to understand why a particular approach is being considered and how its place in the plan will be reviewed with the wider clinical team.

Questions for your next conversation.

  • Which parts of the veterinary history are most useful?
  • What will help us choose meaningful rehabilitation goals?
  • How will different approaches be selected and reviewed?

Approaches to discuss.

These are related areas of care to explore with the team. An individual assessment determines which, if any, are suitable for your dog.
