One part of an individual plan.

Standing can offer a different perspective from walking. Stance analysis adds information about a dog in a particular position and moment; it does not replace a wider assessment or explain the cause of a change on its own.

A dog’s confidence, posture and experience of the equipment help provide context for the recording. The value lies in interpreting the information alongside other observations, and asking what it may mean for the individual dog’s rehabilitation.

What shapes the conversation?

  • Comfort and confidence while standing for assessment.
  • How positioning and surroundings affect the observation.
  • The relationship between stance, gait and daily function.

Questions you can bring.

  • What can stance analysis add to the assessment?
  • How will you help my dog feel comfortable on the equipment?
  • How will we compare this with other observations?
