Your first assessment

A conversation before a plan.

We want to understand why you have come, what has changed and what matters to you and your dog. Relevant veterinary history, current care and your observations at home all help inform that conversation.

There is room to discuss worries about handling, unfamiliar places, other dogs or previous experiences. How your dog feels in the environment is part of the assessment.

Looking at movement in context.

Assessment may draw on observation of movement, functional activities and appropriate clinical measures. Gait and stance analysis, including EKICO technology where suitable, can contribute information to that wider picture.

The equipment used and the pace of the appointment depend on the dog. An initial assessment does not mean every treatment or technology will be needed.

  • Discuss relevant history, daily routines and priorities.
  • Assess movement and function in an appropriate way.
  • Agree the next steps and explain the thinking behind them.

Leave with a clearer next step.

A rehabilitation plan should make sense in your dog’s life and yours. The assessment helps identify suitable options, questions for the referring vet and what to review as care continues.
