Mobility changes: describe what you see

Clear observations can be more useful than trying to find a label for a change yourself.

A closer look.

A change in mobility might become apparent in a familiar daily task. When describing it, the setting and circumstances can help: where your dog was, what they were doing and what seemed different from their usual movement.

Those details are a starting point for veterinary assessment and, where appropriate, rehabilitation. A home video may help illustrate a naturally occurring moment, but it still needs context and does not replace assessment. Ask the team what would be useful to share.

Questions to take into a conversation.

  • When and where have I noticed the change?
  • What context should accompany a video or note?
  • What should our vet assess before rehabilitation is considered?

A Huxley explanation, in time.
