Chronic pain: noticing the whole picture

Movement, rest, interaction and environment all deserve a place in the conversation about comfort.

A closer look.

Owners often know the small details of their dog’s routine best. A different resting place, a changed response to an activity or an unfamiliar pattern of interaction can be worth discussing without assuming there is one explanation.

Pain assessment and management belong with the veterinary team. Rehabilitation can contribute observations and a discussion of daily function, emotional wellbeing and home life. Share changes clearly so the people involved can consider them together.

Questions to take into a conversation.

  • What changes should I describe to our vet?
  • How can I record observations without trying to interpret them myself?
  • How will the rehabilitation and veterinary teams stay connected?

A Huxley explanation, in time.
