Huxley explains strength and conditioning

Preparing for activity starts with the individual dog, their health and the demands of the life they lead.

A closer look.

Strength and conditioning can be discussed for different activities and ambitions. A dog’s age, fitness, movement, veterinary history and daily routine all contribute to assessment; breed or job title alone cannot set an appropriate programme.

The conversation also includes comfort, confidence, rest and the practicalities of following a plan. Goals should be understandable and reviewed as the dog’s needs or activities change, with wellbeing remaining part of the discussion.

Questions to take into a conversation.

  • What information do you need about our dog’s activities?
  • How will goals reflect their current health and movement?
  • How will rest, confidence and changing needs be considered?

A Huxley explanation, in time.

Download the written guide and its questions as a plain text file to read or print. It is general owner education, rather than an individual home rehabilitation plan.

Connect this to your dog’s care.
