One part of an individual plan.

A land treadmill is one of several environments available for rehabilitation and movement work. It may be considered alongside ordinary walking observations, therapeutic exercise and water-based work, according to the aims of assessment and the individual plan.

Working on a treadmill is a new experience for many dogs. Introduction, handling, opportunities to pause and the dog’s response are part of the clinical conversation. The equipment is selected to support a goal, with suitability reviewed as the plan develops.

What shapes the conversation?

  • The reason for using a moving surface in this plan.
  • Your dog’s confidence with equipment and new tasks.
  • How this relates to movement outside the centre.

Questions you can bring.

  • Why use a land treadmill in my dog’s situation?
  • How will you introduce the moving surface?
  • What observations will help you review this work?
