Huxley explains gait analysis

What are we actually looking at when your dog walks?

A closer look.

Gait analysis is a way of examining movement. The team considers what they observe alongside clinical history, the wider assessment and your experience of the dog outside the centre. An unfamiliar room or surface can be part of the context.

Recorded observations and technology can add information, but interpretation still matters. Ask which questions the assessment is exploring, and how findings from one setting will be connected to the activities that matter in daily life.

Questions to take into a conversation.

  • What aspects of movement are you observing?
  • Would a video of a usual activity help provide context?
  • How will you explain the findings and their limits?

A Huxley explanation, in time.
