One part of an individual plan.

An underwater treadmill brings a walking surface and water together. It gives the clinical team a different setting in which to observe movement and consider rehabilitation work. It is not interchangeable with pool swimming or land-based exercise.

The decision to use it follows assessment, discussion of veterinary information and consideration of your dog’s confidence. The equipment supports a plan; it does not set the plan. How your dog feels and responds remains central throughout.

What shapes the conversation?

  • Movement and function on land as well as in water.
  • Familiarity with enclosed spaces and moving surfaces.
  • The clinical reason for choosing this environment.

Questions you can bring.

  • Why might you choose the underwater treadmill for my dog?
  • How will you introduce the equipment?
  • What changes will we be looking for over time?
