A purpose within the plan.

A dog’s movement is part of their story. Gait and movement analysis gives us a structured way to explore what we see, alongside their history, your observations and the rest of their assessment.

We can consider movement on land and in water, drawing on technology where it is useful. Findings help inform a discussion about care; they are considered as part of the whole dog rather than treated as a complete explanation on their own.

What comes into the conversation

  • Movement in the situations relevant to your dog’s daily life.
  • The relationship between observations and the clinical history.
  • How repeat observations may contribute to reviewing a plan.

The shape of a visit

  • Explain what you have noticed about your dog’s walking and movement.
  • Discuss the type of assessment that may help answer those questions.
  • Talk through the observations in clear, owner-friendly language.
