Rehabilitation pathways

A direction, with room to review.

Pathways help organise care. The individual dog, referring question and owner circumstances determine how the plan develops.

Referral and context

Begin with relevant veterinary information, the reason for referral and the practical question being asked. Post-operative rehabilitation, longer-term mobility support, neurological rehabilitation and performance-related concerns may call for different conversations.

Assessment and shared priorities

Movement and function are considered alongside comfort, behaviour, environment and the available history. Assessment technologies may add information where appropriate. Owner priorities help translate the clinical question into meaningful daily activities.

An individual plan

A plan may bring together work on land, work in water, therapeutic exercise and other modalities. Treatment selection, frequency and home guidance require individual clinical judgement; this website does not provide condition-based protocols.

Review and communication

Review considers the agreed goals, observations across appointments and the owner’s experience at home. The plan may need adapting, further veterinary discussion or a different emphasis. Reporting arrangements should be agreed with the referring team.
