Rehabilitation & comfort

Behaviour & emotional wellbeing

How your dog feels belongs in every conversation about how they move.

A purpose within the plan.

Your dog brings their experiences, preferences and emotions to each appointment. We consider behaviour and emotional wellbeing throughout rehabilitation, alongside their diagnosis, movement and physical needs.

This includes conversations about body language, choice, handling and the environment. Where a separate clinical behaviour service is appropriate, that has its own professional pathway and can connect with physical assessment and rehabilitation at House of Hound.

What comes into the conversation

  • What helps your dog feel more comfortable in unfamiliar situations.
  • How they communicate uncertainty, discomfort or a need for a break.
  • The relationship between physical care and their experience of the appointment.

The shape of a visit

  • Tell us about worries, preferences and previous appointment experiences.
  • Discuss how the environment and approach can take these into account.
  • Explore whether further behaviour support belongs alongside rehabilitation.
