Floors, stairs & the routes through home

Your dog’s usual route around the house can reveal useful questions for the rehabilitation team.

Think about the places your dog chooses to spend time and how they move between them. Doorways, changes in flooring and stairs are specific features you can describe when discussing the home environment.

You do not need to arrive with a finished adaptation plan. Explain which parts of home life feel difficult and ask the team what they need to know before discussing changes suited to your dog and household.

Bring this into the conversation

  • Which home routes deserve discussion?
  • Where do you notice hesitation or change?
  • What practical constraints should the team know?
