Pool hydrotherapy

A considered introduction to movement in water, shaped around the dog in front of us.

A purpose within the plan.

Our pool is one of the environments available for canine rehabilitation at House of Hound. Choosing it is a clinical decision made in the context of your dog’s wider assessment, rather than an automatic starting point for every dog.

We want owners to understand the purpose of each part of their dog’s care. That includes why pool work might be considered, how your dog’s response informs the session and when a different environment may be more appropriate.

What comes into the conversation

  • The purpose of pool work within your dog’s individual plan.
  • How your dog responds to the pool environment and handling.
  • What we learn from their movement and behaviour in water.

The shape of a visit

  • Share any previous experiences your dog has had around water.
  • Discuss the assessment and the reason for the proposed approach.
  • Review how your dog responded and what that means for their ongoing plan.
