A purpose within the plan.

Strength and conditioning begins with an understanding of your dog’s current movement, activities and individual needs. At House of Hound, performance is considered in the context of the whole dog, including their emotional wellbeing and life away from activity.

Assessment helps shape a conversation about appropriate goals and the approaches available. Land-based work, therapeutic exercise and other elements are considered for their relevance to your dog, rather than as a fixed programme for every participant.

What comes into the conversation

  • The activities your dog takes part in and what you hope to work towards.
  • Their current movement, age, fitness and veterinary history.
  • How the plan fits around rest, routine and your dog’s wider wellbeing.

The shape of a visit

  • Tell us about your dog’s activity, lifestyle and any concerns.
  • Discuss assessment findings and realistic areas of focus.
  • Agree how the proposed work and your dog’s response will be reviewed.
