HOUSE OF HOUND | LEARN WITH HUXLEY Sample owner education · Website concept 03 Pain and behaviour: stay curious about change Behaviour & wellbeing A change in behaviour deserves context, not a quick conclusion about a dog’s character. Physical comfort, emotional state, surroundings and previous experiences can all belong in a conversation about behaviour. No single behaviour tells an observer what a dog is feeling or proves a diagnosis, so description is a useful first step. Explain what changed, the situations in which you noticed it and what else was happening. Veterinary assessment and, where appropriate, clinical behaviour support can help explore the picture. Rehabilitation should include these observations alongside movement and function. QUESTIONS FOR YOUR NEXT CONVERSATION 1. What exactly changed, and in which situations? 2. What should we discuss with our vet before making assumptions? 3. Would coordinated rehabilitation and behaviour input be useful? Discuss your dog’s circumstances with the veterinary and rehabilitation teams. Huxley doesn’t define. Huxley doesn’t diagnose. Huxley doesn’t prescribe. Huxley doesn’t assume. Huxley doesn’t stereotype. He empathises. He empowers. He educates. “See the dog, not just the diagnosis.”
