HOUSE OF HOUND | LEARN WITH HUXLEY Sample owner education · Website concept 03 Exercise and walking: ask about the purpose Everyday life An individual activity plan needs more context than a general rule about minutes or distance. Walks differ in surface, pace, surroundings and what they ask of the dog. Rehabilitation guidance needs to reflect health, current movement, confidence and any veterinary instructions, as well as the owner’s normal routine. Describe what a usual outing actually involves and ask how the agreed guidance applies to it. A written plan is useful only if the household understands it. Online articles cannot set appropriate walking amounts or exercise progressions for an individual dog. QUESTIONS FOR YOUR NEXT CONVERSATION 1. What should we describe about our usual walks? 2. How does our agreed plan apply to the routes available to us? 3. What changes or difficulties should we report to the team? Discuss your dog’s circumstances with the veterinary and rehabilitation teams. Huxley doesn’t define. Huxley doesn’t diagnose. Huxley doesn’t prescribe. Huxley doesn’t assume. Huxley doesn’t stereotype. He empathises. He empowers. He educates. “See the dog, not just the diagnosis.”
